I am stomping my feet and throwing a toddler temper tantrum because I refuse to accept that summer is over. It’s not. It’s not. It’s not! We have a great idea for you today to use during a family get together or a family reunion because summer is NOT over and there’s still plenty of summer left to play this Pinata Candy Shirt Activity that will be the HIT of your get together!
You could actually play this any time of year but then I wouldn’t be able to throw a tantrum and that’s no fun.
My daughter had a family reunion this year with her husband’s side of the family. They have a wonderful, large family and almost everyone was able to attend. One of the activities that they played was this Pinata Candy Shirt. It is so easy to make and was a super hit with the little kids, the teenage kids and even the older kids (adults!).
Are you ready for the simple instructions? Here is what you will need: A teeshirt that is the size of someone in your family that will be the “runner”. This can be Grandpa, Dad, Uncle or even an older teenager.
Lots of candy that is preferably not chocolate.
Glue Gun and glue.
Paper grocery bag or poster
Insert the grocery bag or poster inside of your shirt so the glue won’t seep and stick to the back of your shirt. With your glue gun, glue small amounts onto your candy shirt and then press the candy into the glue which is why you don’t want any chocolate candy! Cover the whole shirt front and back.
That’s it! Now for the fun. Give every child that is participating a bag or something to hold their candy. The candy “runner” starts to run and the kids are let loose to try and catch him and rip off as much candy as they can.
Take a look at this cute video of this activity at their family reunion:
The kids chased the candy runner until there was absolutely not one piece of candy left on his shirt. That’s how big of a hit it was!
I say try it out before summer is over where you live. Plus it’s much safer than swinging a bat!
